‘The Big 12 got it right’: Jenni & Berry weigh in on the football tiebreaker controversy

November 14, 2023

Jenni Carlson and I discuss the Big 12 Conference’s football tiebreaker, which conference officials clarified on Tuesday. Until then, the language of the multiple-team ties scenario was so poorly written it raised legitimate questions as to its meaning. The clarification ensures that Oklahoma State would advance to the Dec. 2 title game in the event of a three-way tie with Kansas State and Oklahoma by virtue of victories over both teams. But it also gave ammunition to conspiracy theorists who believe the Big 12 has it in for Oklahoma because it’s leaving for the SEC.
